VKV Borojalenga is about 22 kms. from district headquarters Silchar. The school is located in a beautiful ambiance of natural surroundings of which the adjacent hillock was formerly used as golf course by the British Sahibs who owned the Borojalenga Tea Estates. The locality is full of tea gardens. Rosekandy Tea Estate is one of the prominent Tea Estates of this area. The majority of populations live on tea. West Jalenga Tea Estate 2.5 kms from school is famous for organic tea production. Huge quantity of tea is exported abroad. Tea of Borojalenga and Iringmara is also sold in different parts of India like Punjab, Gujarat, Haryana and some other states. Fisheries are the other important source of earning for the people of this locality. Large quantity of fish is exported to different parts of the valley from here.

 Mahavirchera which is located at a distance of 2 kms from school is an important spiritual destination. Everyday many people from parts of the valley and outside take recourse to Mahavirchera located at the hill top of Borojalenga tea estate to seek Lord Mahavir’s blessings. 

Vivekananda Vidyalaya was established at the Assam University Campus on 16th of August 2007.  The school started with class KG, I, II and III having an enrolment of 37 students. There were 6 teachers and 1 bhaiya and 1 ayadidi in the initial days. Later in the year 2012 on the 17th of April, Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Irongmara Campus was established with the effort of Sri Bijan Saha, the then Principal of Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Irongmara with the co-operation of the parents and some well wishers, Sri Nilendu Deb, Sri krishnapada Dutta and Sri Hirak Ghosh.

An amount of 150000 was collected from the well wishers of Irongmara, Borojalenga and Dwarband which at that time came as a great help. In the 2014, on 1st January, a plot of land was procured in Borojalenga and since then VKV  Borojalenga had started taking shape. In the year 2015, on 16thapril, Bhoomi Puja was performed with the blessings of Sri Satyastanandaji Maharaj  of Ramkrishna Mission, Silchar. After procuring a suitable land for the school in the Borojalenga area which is one of the Block Head quarters of Cachar district of Assam within the tea garden area, Vivekananda Kendra took the responsibility to look after the institution as one of its schools in Assam.

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Borojalenga, Cachar was established in the year 2014.  Due to the involvement, owning and co-operation of the local people the Vidyalaya has grown magnificently in all aspects in last couple of years. The functioning of the vidyalaya in its unique way of imparting socio cultural and Nationalistic Education along with prescribed CBSE curriculum has earned tremendous response and support from the people of the locality.  

Finally on the 1st of April 2018, VKV Borojalenga started functioning in its own campus. The school has witnessed many ups and downs, despite that it has been maintaining overall academic atmosphere working competently on developing manifold aspects of child development as envisioned  by Swami Vivekananda. So far, 5 batches of class X have appeared AISSE from this school. The school currently has 18 teachers, 5 Extra Curricular Activity teachers, 4 non-teaching Staff, 1 gardener and a total strength of 412 students. The school encourages students’ participation in different co curricular activities in and outside school. We are also privileged to have academic support from Assam University which is located at a distance of 4.5 kms from school. The school is now in take-off stage and is poised for massive augmentation in terms of construction of school buildings and other facilities at the permanent campus.
